Face Reflexology Clooney Concept is a blend of Western reflexology incorporating zone therapy with reflex points & Eastern acupressure points. Catherine spent many years living and working in the Middle East. Whilst there she learned and developed a new style of face reflexology. Using a combination of massage and traditional reflexology she developed FRCC. Catherine believes that the proximity of the treatment area to the brain and central nervous system, encourages a faster response of the healing process.

Therapists use a series of identified points on the face to assist with ailments. Each ailment has a specific face map developed by Catherine herself and based on Vietnamese acupressure points. The treatment provides a combination of health and wellness benefits. FRCC is a practice that may also be continued at home to gain maximum benefit. Lorna will provide instruction for this following a treatment.

Face reflexology offers a gentle alternative to those who may have a foot ailment or damage to the feet that prevents them from enjoying traditional foot reflexology.

How does Face Reflexology work?

Face Reflexology works on the same principles as foot reflexology, but the treatment is applied to the face, neck, and head. This non-invasive deeply relaxing treatment is based on the theory that specific points and areas on the face can be anatomically mapped to the body systems through the peripheral and central nervous system.

We sometimes don’t realise how much tension builds up in our face, head, and neck muscles due to our lifestyle habits. We might frown a lot through frustration or concentration. We might grind our teeth at night due to emotional stress for example.

FRCC acts with immediate effect using this series of structured maps. As Face Reflexology is a slow and relaxing treatment it helps to activate the parasympathetic nervous system. Once these reflex points are activated it encourages the body’s own balancing process. This relaxed state of mind and body allows natural healing to begin.

It is important to come to the appointment with clean, make-up-free skin. A consultation form is completed in order to determine what the main purpose of the treatment is and to ensure that there are no contraindications to treat. Once this has been completed a clear goal is established with the client. A specifically chosen protocol is followed based on the clients’ needs.

Beautiful Neal’s Yard Remedies or Bees Flying Wild organic facial oil is applied to the face and neck before beginning the sequence. The oils enhance the experience of the treatment as they nourish the skin and allow for a flowing movement without dragging the delicate facial skin. They also smell divine helping to evoke the senses.

Gentle pressure is applied to different reflex points on the face to improve health and vitality and to restore the body and mind. The treatment can help to relax muscle tension in the face, neck, and head.  While doing this it will improve skin tone and texture as it increases blood flow and circulation to the face. It encourages lymphatic drainage (particularly when combined with Facial Gua Sha), stimulates the facial nerves, improving circulation and nerve supply as well as the releases of toxins.

A follow-up treatment plan may be discussed once the initial treatment is completed. This is advised when treating conditions such as migraine or sinusitis for example.

Some of the benefits of Face Reflexology:

  • Face Reflexology may be particularly useful for people suffering from neurological conditions as a result of its proximity to the cranial nerves and central nervous system.

  • Face Reflexology aims to reduce the symptoms and effects of many common ailments including sinusitis, congestion problems, muscle tension such as TMJ, mental strain, headaches & migraines, insomnia, lack of energy, IBS, Bell's Palsy, bruxism, and stress-related issues.

Facial Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a method of traditional healing originating in Ancient Chinese Medicine. It works through encouraging microcirculation of the soft tissue, which increases blood flow and oxygenation of cells. A crystal tool/stone is used in a very gentle scraping motion in line with the meridians/channels of the face. The motion of the tool triggers the skin’s metabolic healing process, accelerates collagen production, increases blood circulation, encourages lymphatic drainage, and rejuvenates tired skin. This, in turn, activates the body’s own natural healing response.

We hold a lot of tension in our facial muscles, through every day speaking, swallowing, eating, and reacting to the world around us. Gua Sha assists by creating a massage that supports the skin to detoxify, drain waste lymph fluid, hydrate and soften any wrinkles which have formed. Gua sha is intended to address stagnant energy, called chi, in the body that may be responsible for inflammation which can be an underlying cause of several conditions associated with chronic pain. Through breaking up this energy, inflammation may be reduced and healing can start to take place.
